The Liberty Sewing Circle is preparing to host its Threads of Valor quilt presentation, an event dedicated to recognizing and appreciating nominated local veterans. This upcoming ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Kosciusko Senior Services Center/Pete Thorn Gym, a facility located at 800 N. Park Ave. in Warsaw. The program, which serves as a public expression of gratitude for those who have served, is open for community members to attend, according to a news release from the Liberty Sewing Circle.

The day's activities will commence with doors opening to the public at 10 a.m. A formal program is set to begin at 10:30 a.m., designed to honor the participating veterans. The opening segment will feature patriotic singing, intended to set a reverent and celebratory tone for the occasion. Following this, the American Legion Post 49 Honor Guard will perform the traditional posting of the flag, a significant part of ceremonies recognizing military service. Guest speakers are also slated to address the attendees, offering further words of tribute and respect.

A central element of the Threads of Valor event involves the presentation of unique, handcrafted quilts. These quilts will be personally presented to each veteran nominee by members of the Liberty Sewing Circle, symbolizing the community's appreciation for their service. Following these presentations, a meal will be provided, offering an opportunity for fellowship among the veterans, their families, and other attendees. This communal aspect aims to foster a shared experience of gratitude and remembrance.

Due to anticipated interest and the physical layout of the venue, seating for the Threads of Valor presentation is limited. Therefore, individuals and groups planning to attend are required to register in advance. To secure a place and indicate the number of people in their party, attendees must contact Marsha Huffman. The deadline for this registration is prior to Friday, Nov. 6. Marsha Huffman can be reached directly at (574) 268-4507 for all registration inquiries.

Beyond the immediate event, the Liberty Sewing Circle maintains an ongoing commitment to honoring veterans in the Kosciusko County area. For those who wish to nominate a veteran residing within Kosciusko County for a future Threads of Valor presentation, Marsha Huffman serves as the point of contact. She can provide information regarding the nomination process, ensuring that the circle's appreciation extends to more local service members in subsequent ceremonies. The organization emphasizes its mission to continue its work in showing appreciation for local veterans through these carefully crafted presentations and recognition events.
