Indiana State University has appointed alumnus and longtime local television journalist Rondrell Moore to serve as its new Chief Public Relations Officer, according to an announcement from the institution. Moore is scheduled to begin his new responsibilities on October 2, 2026, stepping into a role that oversees media relations, institutional communications, reputation management, and strategic storytelling for the campus.

Indiana State University President Mike Godard stated that he holds confidence in Moore's judgment, character, communication abilities, and overall commitment to the institution. Godard added that Moore will bring a valuable perspective to the leadership team and serve as an effective representative for both the President’s Office and the University.

In his new capacity, Moore will guide efforts aligned with the university's mission and priorities. Reflecting on his appointment, Moore noted that the university has been an important part of his life for nearly two decades and expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to serve his alma mater. He stated that the campus is filled with remarkable students, faculty, staff, and alumni whose stories deserve to be told, and he looks forward to collaborating across the campus and with community partners to share those narratives and strengthen the institution's reach.

Moore's history with the university includes a strong academic record as an undergraduate. He graduated summa cum laude from Indiana State in 2008, earning a bachelor’s degree in communication alongside a minor in Spanish. During his time as a student, he maintained a 4.0 grade point average, served as news director for WISU, and worked as an anchor for Sycamore Video. His academic achievements earned him the Hines Memorial Medal, which stands as one of the highest honors awarded by the university, and he was also named Communication Student of the Year.

Following his graduation, Moore transitioned into professional broadcasting at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, where he spent 17 years working as a journalist. Throughout his career in local media, he earned recognition from the Associated Press, the Indiana Broadcasters Association, and the Society of Professional Journalists, alongside two Ohio Valley Regional Emmy nominations.

Beyond journalism, Moore has accumulated experience in higher education and fundraising. He most recently worked within University Advancement as the Director of Development for Indiana State University’s Bailey College of Engineering and Technology. During his initial year in that development role, he helped secure more than $3 million in scholarships, programmatic support, and gifts-in-kind designated for the college.

Moore has maintained an active presence in the Wabash Valley community throughout his professional life. His community service includes participation on the Wabash Valley Community Foundation Distribution Committee and involvement with the League of Women Voters. Additionally, he has received the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce’s 12 Under 40 Award as well as the Polaris Award, which recognizes alumni of Terre Haute North Vigo High School. Outside of his professional duties and community engagements, Moore is ordained in the Church of God in Christ and enjoys spending time with family and friends while playing tennis.
